Health Protocols in Cancun, Get to Know Them.
Tourism Reactivated in Cancun Under Strict Protocols
The governor of Quintana Roo, Carlos Joaquín González, has held several meetings with business people, tourism leaders, and investors to present the plans, projects, and progress of the state's economic recovery. More than 6,500 businesses have already registered the new health protocols to obtain official certification (Mexican Caribbean: more than 5,000 businesses seeking the anti-Covid seal).
The governor highlighted this during a video conference with tourism business people affiliated with the Confederation of National Chambers of Commerce, Services, and Tourism (Concanaco), where he explained that he is working to advance and recover the more than 84,000 jobs lost due to the pandemic.

In Cancun, certified hotels are following a robust plan that adheres to WTTC protocols, aiming to be industry leaders. This would not only support tourism but also boost the country's economy by attracting visitors from other countries. Such is the case in Cancun, which has already received American visitors looking to enjoy the beaches without fear of contagion, as hygiene measures are strictly followed in hotels, tourist areas, and restaurants.
The governor of Quintana Roo announced that recovering the state's economy is important, but so is safeguarding the safety of its inhabitants. Therefore, for now, beaches cannot be accessed in groups, only individually.

The protocols for Grupo Xcaret and Cancun Hotels are: security control will involve taking the temperature of all individuals entering establishments, as well as the use of disinfectant mats at their entrances and disinfection of luggage and other items brought by tourists; constant disinfection of spaces and objects to prevent contagion through common-use items; in hotels, rooms will need to be disinfected at least twice a day, and a thorough cleaning and disinfection will be performed before handover and after use; employees will use protective gear such as face masks, face shields, and gloves; buffets will be controlled, and social distancing guidelines will be followed; additionally, restaurants and hotels will operate at only 50% capacity.
Controlled tourism could be an important factor in the country's economic recovery, given its significant contribution to the national Gross Domestic Product.
